Back in SDHL

 Hockey is back!

After a short detour with another team, I´m back where I belong. With the girls and Göteborg HC.

What made me change my mind? Well, first of all, I really missed woman hockey. And "my" girls.

And I got the question to get back to the team. Not as the only Equipment manager. But this year we would be three. That means that I don´t have to live at the rink to make it work. And I don´t have to be there every practise if I don´t wan´t to.

The pre season ice have started and so far everything looks good.

I excpect a lot of work, with a lot of sewing, laundry, cleaning and all of the other stuff. But now we can split it in three.

Soon it will be time to stack those pucks.

And we got a new mascot. He loves me of course, since i´m, allergic. And I love him as well.

Look forward to some more updates here as the season grows closer...

A new season. But not with the usual team.

It´s been a turbulent time.

Started the season with Göteborg HC. But negotiations didn´t work out well. Me and the club could´t agree.
So I aimed for a winter without hockey. But after a few weeks I got bored. I need hockey in my life.
And after a while I found out that Hisingen hockey was looking for an equipment manager.
Sent an email. Got a meeting. Negations went well. They got what they wanted, and I got what I wanted.

So for the last two weeks I have been assistant EM for Hisingen. A lot of new things to get into. A lot of new names (I´m so bad at names).
Been attending a game. And that was a win (Good that I couldn´t get blamed for an loss).

My heart will always be with the girls. And I will follow their adventure in SDHL. Maybe some day, I can get back into women hockey.

Oh well. This weekend (read tomorrow) it´s my first away game. Wish me luck. :)

Long time no blogging

Well, I´m back. Long time no blogging.
It really takes some time to manage a SDHL team.

But this season, my thoughts are that I should find the time to blog a little about the work I do.

We just hit the ice for the season, and I mostly doing cleanup for now. And ordering stuff.

The season premiere will be in about a month, and there is much to do before that.

I will be adding a small pouch that a can wear at my hip this year. Will contain a pair of scissors, bandage, gloves and a flashlight. Hopefully i don´t need it, but better safe than sorry.

Right now, we have a team from Saudi Arabia visiting us. They are here to learn more about hockey and how we do things here. I will hopefully be able to attend the practise on saturday and then provide you with some pictures.

Se you at a rink soon.

An old picture, I know... Never one will follow...

The good and the bad.

As always, there is good and bad things that is happening in the world of hockey.

Today my thought goes out to the tragic accident in Saskatchewan, Canada. A bus with the Humbolt Broncos junior hockey team crashed, resulting in the death of 14 players and leaders.

A tragic loss to the the families involved, the team and the hockey world.

A fundraiser has been set up towards the aid of the players and families affected. As I´m writing they have raised over 1,7 million in just 21 hours. If you can, send a small contribute. Link below.

The good things in the hockey world, I will save until tomorrow, leaving today in thoughts of this tragic accident.

Go fundme for Humbolt Broncos.

It´s the end. And the beginning.

Last game of the season is done. A win against Färjestad in the playoff and we have a new contract for SDHL next season. Göteborg HC will continue in the highest league!

It´s been a pleasure to work with the team. We had our ups and downs of course. But over all a great season.

Now the work begins to plan the next season.

I have a bunch of ideas that hopefully will make the girls job on the ice easier.

A big thank you to all the girls for letting me work with them. They are the best!

I will try to get you an update or two during the summer. A lot of work to be done, but maybe not so exiting to write about.

But I will be back as soon the new season starts...

Now I´m off to clean the locker room of all the champagne. :D

Time to summarise.

Last game of the regular season. Time to summarice.

Haven´t counted during the season, but the numbers are low.

At least 700 pucks stacked.
350+ loads of laundry.
540 sticks carried to and from the rink.
Countless of fruit being cut up.
1120+ hours spent at the rink.

Well, next season I will count and get the numbers right. Do I need to say that I love hockey?

Protect your clothing?

When I sometimes (a lot) looks at videos with other Equipment managers, mostly from USA and Canada I always wonder why they use an apron when sharpening skates. You don´t get so dirty. Just keep your hands away from the clothes and you will be OK.

But today, since our sharpener are at service and I find it rather boring to walk back and forth to the janitors to sharpen skates, I wen´t to storage and took out the teams old manual sharpener.

My plan was to see if I could adjust it and get it to work.

Initial adjustments wen´t well and I wen´t on dressing the wheel for a suitable hollow to make a test run.

After that I looked down at my chest and realized that all of the grit I took of the wheel ended up on my chest. My skate suit jacket needed a wash.

And if you sharpen skates every day, and you do, you have to wash whatever you have on. Every day.

So now I need my own apron.

No pictures from this since I don´t have an apron. So here is one from when they needed some repairs in Scandinavium, Gothenburg.
