But I´ll guide you. We can assume that the game will start at 4:00pm.
I will be at the rink at 12:00pm at the latest.
First check if there is any skates that needs shapening.
Then gather the girls laundry and return it to the locker room.
Fetch the game jerseys and hang them in the locker room.
Make a batch of sports drink.
Put in tape, fruit and maybe other things that the girls need.
After that it´s time to adress the locker rooms for the away team.
The players should have towels, water and fruit.
The coaches locker room should have coffee and cookies.
Now the clock is approaching 2:00pm.
The girls starts to arrive.
The away team comes to the rink.
Time to adress any problems with equipment or other issues.
At 2:30pm you get access to the stalls.
Time to clean the floors while the janitors make the ice.
After that you stack pucks for both teams.
Fill water bottles and put them out.
Get you medical equipment. Get other stuff that is good to have in the stall during the game.
Last checkup with the girls.
3:20pm. Time for warm up at the ice.
Be in the stall and take the players extra sticks and put them in the rack so you can get them easily during the game if needed.
Be there for the first 5 minutes of the warmup if the players need something.
Go and get the sports drink that you have prepared and put it in the locker room.
Time for a few minutes of time for yourself. Time to do what YOU need to do before a game.
I have to play with a tennis ball. Focus my thoughts.
Watch the rest of the warm up.
When the girls get of the ice, I´ll be there to hold up the door to the locker room. Pats on the back all around.
20 minutes until game.
If there is nothing to do with skates or other equipment, I´ll usually get in the coaches locker room to pick up on last minutes thoughts.
3:55pm.
Back out by the rink. Fist bump with the starting goalie.
4:00pm
The puck drops. Be there. Praise the good things. Yell at the referee. Drink water.
Then comes the first intermission.
Be first of the rink. Hold up the door to the locker room. The girls will tell if there is an issue with anything.
If not. Check the time until game starts again. (Timer on the phone)
Check status on water bottles. Fill. Have a smoke and a coffee. (Yes, I know it´s bad for me).
Warn the girls when it´s 4 minutes left of intermission.
Game again. Repeat the above.
End of game.
Open locker room. Give words of praise where it´s needed and pats on back for everyone. :)
Clean out the stall. Empty water bottles. Bring sticks back. Take out your stuff.
Wait until the girls are done in the shower and leaves.
If it´s the only game for the weekend, collect the jerseys and socks for washing. Collect the other laundry. Start washing.
Around 7:00pm the away team leaves the rink.
Time to collect their towels for washing.
Clean out the away teams locker rooms.
Laundry, laundry and some more laundry.
Take a look at the girls locker room. Do some cleaning.
Around 10:00pm you will be ready to leave the rink. 10 hours at the rink for a 2 hour game. You have to love it. Really, really love it.
And if there should be a game the day after, you have to repeat it all. And then it´s no use to go home. It´s better to stay at the rink during the night so you can have it all prepared.
Sorry for the long post, but this is what you´ll have to do. Next time, I will make a post about an away game. And trust me, there is actually less to do then...
